door swapping

Hey all,

I'm hoping to do some door swapping sometime in the next month. I'll be getting rid of my nasty ones for doors that are in better condition (interior wise). Is there anything I should look out for? Any problems or common pitfalls?

As long as you stick to the same body style you should have no problems at all. about the only problem would be swaping between 2 & 4 door trucks for obvious reasons.
You'll need to be careful when removing the old doors that you don't stress the attachment points on the body. When mounting the new doors you may have to adjust the door a little to get it "centred" on your truck (you definitely need a buddy to do this job). If your new doors have all the power goodies you may have to drill a hole in the door frame [on body] to accept the hose/boot thingy that the wires run through, the gromit on the end of it need a hole of just over an inch. How we did mine was to use a 3/4 inch electrician's hole saw and then grind it out a bit larger with a dremel tool. Don't try to short cut and use the 1" hole saw the hole will be too big [I know because I tried :pat: ]. other than the above I don't know of any other problems.
Hope this helps Cheers aviator

Come on Elton! Look at the sig, look at the section I'm posting in... ;)
Yeah, sorry I should have specified I was doing this to my 4runner.

Thanks for the info aviator. I'll look out for the centering concern. Fortunately I'm switching from non-power to non-power so there shouldn't be any concerns there.

I had a professor like that. Finally got so fed up with her I challenged her in class. She backed down and started to teach instead of spouting her resume.
