Difference Aussie vs Lock Right?
 

What is the difference between Aussie and Lock Right?

I have been waiting quite long time Assuie Locker for my V6, 8" rear.

My understanding is that Aussie Locker is manuf. by same company as Lock Right and it seems to be very similier system.
Price seemed to be about same.

From user's comments, Aussie Locker seems to be little smoother and less noise.

Please let me know if anybody knows.

i had ZUK install my aussie lockers, and i love them. i can not compare them to anything. i have always had open diff's. they do talk to ya, tink, tink, tink, but i don't mind.

Subscribing to this one so I can keep track of everybody's opinions. I have open diffs now and want to get a locker or two :}
Alot of people here speak very favorably of Lockrights. Hope to hear pros and cons of both lockers. probably won't hear too many cons, though.

I hope this inform is correct and I will wait Toy V6 4pinion Aussie until March 2008.

Thank you for your interest in the Aussie Locker.;

The V6 Toyota will be production starting the second week of February and we
are expecting shipment by the last week of February.

There are significant differences between the Aussie Locker and the Lock
Right. First the Aussie Locker is manufactured in our factory in Australia
and we have no association with Richmond Gear who manufactures the Lock
Right somewhere in the USA the last we heard.

A very significant difference in the V6 Toyota offered by Lock Right is that
their model only consists of a cam gear set (our terminology) forcing you to
use the OE axle gears that are in your diff at this time. The Aussie Locker
is a full cam and axle gear set. The steel used is different, the cam
design is different, the pin and spring slot is patent pending and
different, the heat treat process is different, the angle on the teeth are
different, etc.

Additionally, the Aussie Locker does not have limitations on the warranty
for large tire size and/or high horsepower.

from what i have heard aussie lockers are stronger than lockrites, but for the most part they are the same, i people say this because there are so fewer aussie lockers and therefore you hear about them breaking less but the aussie lockers may be a bit better but i love my lockrite :D

The aussies were a copy of another locker made in austrailia that was a copy of the lockright. If you check, since the aussie is a copy, they cannot sell it to aussie's

Well, depends on how much is the V6 Aussie is...

I read somewhere that the Aussie lockers where made right here in the U.S.. I think I read it on Marlin Crawler or Pirate. Can't wait for the V6 version.

I waited for the Aussie Locker to come out for the V6, but I couldn't wait anymore so I have Lockright 1620's in my front and rear thirds with 37" tires and have had no issues.

v6 lockrite are very well priced. The 4cyl ones come with more parts and are more expensive.

We just stuck a v6 lockrite in the back of a 92? v6 runner and I barely noticed any noises when driving (normally) on the street.

V6 lunch box lockers do not suffer the weakness of 2 pinion lockers. The weakness is due to a new single pinion spider supplied in the new lockers. The v6 is a 4 pinion and the lockers re-use the stock double spider.

The aussie has been promised for years now and they have not materialized. I would assume because of patten laws. There is only about one way to make a 4 pinion locker. This was the case in the law suit between Richmond's Lock Right and Detroit's Ez Locker.

Also don't be surprised if your v6 locker doesn't work smoothly. There is no clearance measurments between the clutchs prior to final carrier assembly. This means the locker could end up either being to "loose" or to "tight". I recommend sliding the alxes in the diff prior to installing the 3rd on the truck and making sure the locker locks and releases properly.

I just installed a lockright in my 99 Tacoma V6 4x4 5speed and I love it. The only times ive heard it is while at full lock (turning) very slow speeds and with the clutch out. I love it. I got to try it in the rain already and has proven to be much more predictable when given full throttle in slick conditions than with an open diff. I'm kinda bummed that I didnt install it sooner.

I wouldn't hold my breath. That sounds like the same boilerplate crap they sent me a year or two ago when they were out of stock on the 4cyl 8 inch lockers for an extended period of time. It was always "next week" or "1st of the month" or some such. They have been promising a V6 model "in the next month or two" for years now. Wait til the end of February if you want, but if they don't come up with one then, I'd get a lockright and get to wheelin' already. Good luck.

I heard last year from somebody samething. That is why I have been waiting.

I will wait 'till tax return and if no Aussie, I will go Lock Right.

I was waiting for a year for "next month" to come. truck ended up with a lockright, I hardly notice its there :D

The Aussie is probably a better product, if for nothing else then the warranty alone but supply issues are what's killing them. I waited for them to get stock on the 4 cyl version last year and gave up and went with a Lockright and I haven't been disappointed. As with anything, having the Lockright in their hands when they designed it should have only helped them make a better design.

If you can get an Aussie do it, but I wouldn't put myself off for it...

Not to mention I think they've been selling preorders for it. If you're not in line you're going to be 6 months out on one.
