diff diff stud questions
 

ok so i snapped one of th studs putting my welded rear in a few months back...just filled it up when ever i went on a trail run...

fastforward to today..

take my whole rear end apart today go to start installing my m8 1.25*40 grade 8 bolts to replace studs and they are really tight to screw in and i think too long...

now should i use these...
or wait till tommorow and get some 30s?? or wait till tommorow and order 10 new toyota studs???

Get the right ones, taking out or installing a third with studs that are too long will be a pain, the top of the third will catch on the swaybar. Get the Toyota ones.

well how long are your studs?

i was only using 40mm bolts i get some 30s too or order studs tomorrow i guess.. i dont have a sway bar on the truck.

do you know which ones are 30s and which ones are 40s on the diff?? i already took all the studs and 3rd out

and was having a hard time getting them to thread. I also didn't have enough clearance to get the allen wrench on them from the inside. After struggling like crazy with the first one, I realized I hadn't cleaned the threads with a tap. After cleaning, they went in with fingers and only needed the allen to do the final tightening. By the time my fingers were finished, the allen would clear and all was well. So consider that if you haven't already.

THANKS MAN thats my issue they thread fnoe for a bit then are too greasy to turn by hand!!!
ill get some 30s andtry and find out which ones go where.... they should work better than studs..they are the same ones as trailgear sells pretty much...
o well maybe the studs from toyota are cheap ill try that route too... my carpotunnel has crippled my hand for the rest of the day now anyways

You know about the double-nut technique for tightening studs right?

yes i do.. thats why i kinda want to go buy new toyota studs..

but alot of poeple say these grade 8 allen bolts are the way to go...

ny current studs the nuts are seized on and 1 is broke...

The studs suck, the button head allen bolts are the way to go. DEFINITELY grab a tap and chase the threads, though.
