Diehard Platinum needs minor mod to install
Just got a Diehard Platinum (made by Odyssey) and found it doesn't quite fit without a little help. Its shorter and less deep than stock (or even an Optima, which was in there before).
I had a length of aluminum stock (1/4 x 3/4) and made two lengths of 6 3/4". I set them under the bracket, side by side, and also had to use two small pieces of ABS plastic on the core support side. Snug as a bug, now!:D http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/361...m001oa3.th.jpg I knew that piece of aluminum would come in handy someday! I think I bought it over ten years ago to make a stock for a paintball gun, but ended up going a different route. I had about 5" left over and that went into the toolbox...just in case!:hillbill: |
hehe, I went the redneck way. Piece of wood under my battery :D

i have been looking at those batteries my self. nice heads up.

I have battery spacers that fit under batteries :) Makes them a 1/2 or 1" taller and stuff.

does Procomp make Odyssey?

Well, I'll be damned!?! Years ago when I got my first Optima I was told to use a 34/78 and kept using those same #s.
Stock group size is 25. Hmmmmmmm.... Here are both batteries: 34/78 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...tive+Batteries 25 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...tive+Batteries The group 25 battery is almost 9" tall and with the 34 being almost 8" (needing a 1/4" of spacer help), there's no way the 25 would fit. Looks like the 34 has better specs, though. Will there be any problem?:( Never had one before using the 34 for the past 10-11 years. |
