Did Toyota change the parking brake from '85 to '89?
I ask because the front parking brake cable on my '89 4Runner snapped, and I'm having a heck of a time finding a replacement. I found a site selling what looks like the cable I need, but it's labeled for an '85 4Runner:

Will this part work, or did Toyota change the e-brake somewhere along the line?
Thanks!

I have had very bad luck with aftermarket Emergency Brake Cables.
I just don`t need the frustration I just buy all the parts from my dealer a lot less problems.
Besides you might want to have a extra pulley and the pin that goes through I dropped one and never did find it.it

Actually they changed over to the button style e-brake in 89 i beleive. Does yours go through the firewall before it dives down the engine side of the firewall...or does it exit around the accelerator pedal?
If by the accelerator pedal, I think you need to look for a ebrake cable from an 89-92. Pretty easy to find at a local J/Y
