Did 2nd gens have a headlight warning buzzer? Might need some electical help...
Hey guys!
So on my 1990 4runner (22re, 5-speed 4x4), when I leave the lights on and exit the vehicle, it does nothing. It also does not turn the overhead light on in any position. However, I don't think it is the switch because if I leave my keys in the ignition and try to exit, a buzzer goes off. With that said, can anyone confirm whether these 2nd gens had a headlight warning buzzer and if so, does anyone know the wiring color/path for that component and also the overhead light? Those are literally the only two things that do not work in my 4runner and it would be great to get them fixed:) Thanks all! |
My 92 does not have a headlight on warning buzzer and I have owned her since she rolled off the lot. Then again, I did not get an SR package or any upgrades. Yes, I have left them on a couple times...and got to test out the "push starter". LOL.
My overhead light has not worked in last year or so. Couple times it would work if I twisted the bulb, but never really investigated very much, but please post what you find. the headlight warning only sounds when the door is open.
and yes, get these. all the wiring info you need is in here. http://tacoma.site40.net/4Runner_90-...l/contents.htm http://www.ether3al.com/93fsm-mobile/\ |
My '95 SR5 Runner has no warning, but it shuts the lights off automaticly.

My 94 SR5 has a warning tone, difficult to hear unless your ears are younger than mine. The lights do not shut off automatically.

Guess I'll have to look closely at the wiring diagrams. My SR5 Runner does have 4 wheel ABS. The manual does indicate that there is a light warning buzzer on models not equppped with ABS. |
I believe it was an option on some models. It is on the first-gen and my DLX did not have one (No reminder relay).
That was the first CHEAP mod I did to the truck because I often forget to turn headlights off. Simple, but like said above, you'd need a schematic to find out where to hook up the buzzer-LED indicator. My write-up. |

First the starter relay mod (which I did, which solved my no-start issue) and now this? Will definitely check this out. Thanks for the help! |

It never worked till I replaced the missing left front door switch |

My 93 22RE P/U had a warning headlight chime that went off when the door was open. I pulled the chimer which was mounted in the center console right beneath the radio.
