Dealership wants $150 for new speedo cable
I've searched high and low for help on this (on here and google). I've figured out the issue on my 95 4Runner (V6), and just need a new cable. However, I can't figure out exactly what part will work. The dealer wants $150 for a new cable, and I'm having trouble at Napa and other places finding what I need (other than a universal one).
So far, I've only found this: http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...677_0380434443
But I read that a user couldn't get that to work on their V6. I'm at the end of my rope here.

I don't have the part number, I just tried calling the dealership again and they're closed.
From what I've gathered, somewhere in the production line it was switched back to a mechanical cable. That has caused me quite a bit of trouble trying to find the part.

Oh, thanks. Think I found it.
Not sure exactly which part the cable is. I'm looking for diagrams.
EDIT: That's not it, still searching.

Found it here, looks like it's the only thing not available: http://www.toyomotorparts.com/compon...1-11938_2.html

If you go to toyodiy.com and register for an account you can get access to an online EPC(Electronic Parts Catalog). Input your VIN and you can view part #'s and diagrams I believe speedo cable is in the meter section. I then go to toyotapartscheap.com and search for part by number this will tell you if the part number has been superceeded by a new part #. You can order through them but the cheapest place I have found is tituswilltoyota.com.

The 4 cylinder cable will work on the v6 if you remove the reducer in the back of the gauge cluster.

Some where about 14th picture down or search for "FOR CABLE SPEEDOMTER DRIVEN MODELS"

I would contact toyotapartsguy. He runs a parts department for a Dealership in Ga and his prices are normally 30-40% lower than retail. I have yet to have Toyota Parts Barn even come close on price. Thats just my .02

After taking everything apart today and getting that cable at napa linked above, it turns out it works perfectly. It plugs into both the transmission and the cluster without any modifications. Took the truck out for a test run and the speedo spins up just fine now.
For anyone else trying to find a part, that cable DOES work. The housing on the new cable is smaller than the housing on the old one, and at first try it won't fit when trying to plug it into the back of the cluster. There is a SECONDARY housing on the back of the cluster, that's what the cable housing was clipping in to. Take off that old secondary housing (there's two tiny clips on each side), and the new cable will go right on.
