Dash Cap
My old cracked dash has been bothering me. So I ordered a dash cap of E-bay for 75.00 shipped. Came 3 days later. Looked good out of the box. Was about 1/2" too long which was perfect. Gives you room to trim it to exact fit. It is Black ABS, ao I will not be painting it in order to avoid scratching it.
Used the silicone adhesive it came with. Cleaned and prepperd the surfaces. Applied silicone to edges around all openings. Compression strapped it onto the dash and waited 4 hours. Came out great. http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs158...._6042095_n.jpg http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...6_918356_n.jpg http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs138...._5537793_n.jpg http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...3_514125_n.jpg |
I have the cracked dash. Thats awesome how clean it came out! Could you post some links to the seller?

Wow, that is outstanding. You'd swear it was OEM from the pics.
|
Thanks! I'm real pleased with it.

I just bought this same dash, came yesterday while I was at work. When I get around to installing it this weekend I'll post pics of the process, etc. I bought it from Partspros.com. Was 78 with shipping. came in 3 days. Funny thing is, right after I bought it, I found someone selling an entire dash for $20! Cluster and all! D'oh!!!!!

You'll be happy with the dash cap! I have had people comment on how mint my interior is and then be suprised when I tell them that the dash is a abs cover.
|
realize it's a old post... but how did you deal with the raised areas the cracks create?

I knocked down the curled up section with a sharp razor blade and took rough sand-paper to finish it before I did my dash repair - I did fiberglass though, not the dash cap
