cv joint a wiggler

as i was replacing my front pass side cv joint a few months ago, i noticed i could move the part that comes out of the front differential. it seemed to wiggle. i understand this to be a bearing of some kind that has failed possibly? this part is what the inner side of the front passenger side cv axle bolts up to. i have tried to find out what parts are in that location that may be the culprit but the local parts stores have no listing. i happen to work at a kragen and i havent been able to find the stupid bearing in my parts book. help!

I have the same problem on my passenger side. I replaced the driver side and it seemed solid however the otherside is definately loose, but no leaks. I feel more than hear what is best described as a high frequency vibration between 53 and 60 with a peak right about 55. I am thinking it is in the diff and is the bearing where it enters the housing.

I also get a pretty lound clunk when it is 4x mode at engagement and sometimes when it disengages. At first I thought it was a ujoint but with the movement in the axle I don't believe that anymore.

My IFS diff is clunking whenever I touch the brakes and it is getting annoying. My diff is not ADD, so it does not have the needle bearings. The noise is probably from the play and movement of the stubb shaft as it moves. Is the only fix to put in an ADD diff?
