CV axle replacement- axle too short?
Hello all, I am currently meandering my way through replacing my cv joint axles. I bought refurbished ones from advance auto, and after sliding the first one into place, it seemed to be too short. I took it out of the steering unit and compared it side by side with the old one, and it was about an 1 to 1/2 inches shorter. Is this a problem? It seems like I can stretch it out a bit, but that seemed like it may stress the unit in the long run. Input please? Oh, and it's an 86 pickup 4x4.

they must have given you the wrong ones.. maybe from a newer model have you pulled both sides and compared? one might be longer than the other so double check that you wanna be sure to get the right length or stuff can strip/blow out
