Cutting the fenders..... Please help

i have a 93 4runner and i want to trim up the fenders..... in the front i think im gonna oly take off an inch all the way around. but in the back i just want to cut the bottom section of the rear quarter pannel. ( the piece that the was covered by the side portions of the bumper....just cut it straight out to the bumper....is that gonna pose any problems? anyone got pictures of their 4 2nd gen runners with trimmed fenders? please post them, and yes i have searched, just not seeing too many gen 2's

Someone once posted pics of some Bushwacker cut out fenders. They used the kit for the pickup and it worked in the rear. Looked good. I don't know that cutting the metal up is that good of an idea. Post a pic of your rig so that we can understand why you want to do that.

I cut mine yesterday. Only the ones up front though. The rear ones were not rubbing. There is a lip on the fender and that is what gives the fender strength. If I were you I'd just cut off the parts that are rubbing, and blend the cut in with the curve of the fender. You could also make your won lip.

If you cut it like you propose, you're gonna have to put a patch panel back in or you'll get crap inside the truck.

This is perhaps the biggest reason why I would never build a 4Runner - trucks don't have these issues.

don't cut the rear unless you plan on treating the metal and patching it or it will rust out within a year

yea, i figured i would have to patch it, that wont really be a problem... ill see if i can post up some pics later. but as for lift, i think im just gonna run some 1.5'' balljoint spacers and some 2'' coils... maybe crank up the torsion bar .5'' if im feeling a bit gamey.... thanks for the advice guys
