Question Cut off my muffler, Should I keep it off?

Ok, so I cut my muffler off, it was a flowmaster broken to hell, should I buy a new one and install it? or just leave it off, power feels about the same, is there any bad things I sould be worried about other than it being louder than s**t, I am running a cat. so Im hoping that will create enough backpressure, your suggestions would help. thanks

When do you have to smog it again? I would imagine you should put it back on.

You can get mufflers on the cheap at any parts house...I think a muffler for my old ranger was around $20...I would think the motor would function better with a little more back pressure anyways.

sell your old catalytic converter to a good recycle place and you would probably get enough money to buy a new cat and muffler. Don't think just do it!

based on sound laws...i'd suggest muffling that thing. Cause if you dont, and the cops nail you....bad times.

Well I had my 3.0 with no muffler bcak in the day before it blew headgaskets, sounded completely awesome, never was pulled over but It seemed quiter than my 22re right now, must be because I had a larger cat. on it. Ill check out the dynomax. Thanks

It was mainly a joke, but I did read somewhere that a guys original cat was plugged so he had to get a new one. The old ones have platinum or something in them and are worth a lot of money at some recycle places. He got more for his old cat than he paid for his new high flow cat. There was a thread on here awhile ago about tweakers hacking off peoples cats for the dough. But mainly it was a joke and a play on his sig, that says "Don't think, go for it!"

ah, and thats the only thing i could think of was the value of the metals inside of older ones may be more than the value of the metals in the new ones because they are always tryna save money.

Little late but... haha

just get a cherry bomb from Kragens or something. Cost like 25 bucks 6 years ago, and BOLTS in rather than welds into place. I got this for my 3.0 toyota and it sounded great, not loud, and now it is on my 22re. I gotta punch a hole for the o2 sensor after the cat, but thats no big deal.

Yes I am ghetto. But I make it work.
