Crappy idle + Rev limiter = Good idle???
I've been having the worst idle ever. I was told it's a vacuum leak. I sprayed starting fluid ALL over the hoses, on the side of the engine, the valve cover, I tried reaching the back...and nothing changes. I unplug the PCV and my truck dies. Warmed up it idles at 1500-1700 then when I hit the brakes it idles at a 1k then to 1300 then to 1k again. It's extremely annoying. The idle screw is all the way down. So, what else should I do? Is there an easy way to adjust the TPS? When it's doing that I will rev it to 6k and let off until it hits 5500 then do it again like 10 times and it idles at 1k rpm just fine...that's whats so weird. Any suggestions or thoughts?

ya mine does the same thing its wierd. i notice if i get low on water "because of small hg leak" my truck will surge like that then i will add water instantly goes away. or if i dont add water and just run the out of it it will idle fine.
ive herd that the brake booster could be the culprit. if you fix it please repost. so i can try to fix mine. hehe

Mine does the same thing. After it is warmed up, about 15 min of idling, it will start do 'surge' and this increases everytime you hit the brake. If i am at a stop light, it will surge a lot and it sounds like i am hitting the gas and then getting off it fast. I was told this would stop if i replaced the brake booster.

lol...I don't know about the brake booster...I think I am going to cap the brake booster vacuum line and run it until it heats up...that way I can count it out...lol

Didn't do a damn thing
I am thinking of loosening the tps and turning it until it runs right. Not sure if that is the way to do it...but I suspect that is what is happening.
