A couple engine questions
Hi,
I have a 1990 pickup, 4x4. It has a 22RE from a 1992. I have a couple questions: 1) The engine makes a clicking sound that is relative to the RPM. I thought it was a rocker or valve, but tightening them a little tighter than normal did not make a difference. Then I got out the stethoscope, and pinpointed the sound to the right side of the water pump. I assume it is not the water pump, but actually a timing chain guide issue. Do you think that is probably the case? 2) The engine could use a new head gasket, as well as ^^^ fixed. I have been thinking about doing these two things at the same time, and also replacing the camshaft with one that provides more ponies. If I get a camshaft that provides more horsepower, would this require having the ECU reprogrammed/tuned, or anything like that? Thanks, Josh |
Could be a timing chain, might think about doing water pump at the same time
No you cannot flash a toyota Ecu, shouldn't need to retune for what you are doing. |
I was considering replacing the water pump too, while I have everything apart. Probably wouldn't hurt...
Thanks |
