coolentmania! or My Leaky Throttle Body
Ok so i have a 92 pickup with a 3vze and i was just wondering after hours of searching, what would make coolant come out of this little hole in the throttle body?
NOT MY PICTURE too lazy to go downstairs
But imagine that hole is full of coolant and is going into the engine from there in quite some volume.
It was loosing coolant over the last couple weeks but it was running fine; it was running REALLY fine after i changed the spark plugs yesterday but last night pretty much all at once it started idling really rough and would push crazy smoke when i reved it up; but would smarten up once it was up around 2500-3000rpm.
After i got home i popped the hood to poke around and there didn't seem to be anything wrong, coolant is clear and it wasn't anywhere near overheating at the time, oil is clear, but theres coolant leaking out the bottom of the air filter box and after i pulled the intake hose it was soaked with coolant inside same with the meter and the throttle body.
Thanks in advance!

so it's a blow head gasket (which still doesn't explain all that loose coolant in the throttle body but whatever) ˟˟˟˟ this 3vze hogwash i'm swapping it out for a 5vzfe, auto wrecker says he's familiar with the swap and he'll sell me everything i need to do it for $1400.
So thats what happening instead, thanks for all the help

How did you determine it was the head gasket? The TB does have coolant flowing through it. I sprung a leak externally at the hose clamp and just by passed it one day, (Very bad idea) Needs to have coolant flow through the TB. Can you Cap one end and pressurize the other?

oh i didn't think to take a picture, i just ran an 8" length of 1/4" copper tube under the Throttle Body to bypass it, but even after i did that it still pushes tons of white smoke and ran awful after about 1 minute, it sounds like a nasty miss but theres no coolant coming out of the throttle body anymore! so i still don't get that part.

Bypassing the coolant through the throttle body = 1500-2k Idle, HOT engine temps. Theres a thermal switching and it just keeps the choke on non stop. how many miles on the truck? Head gaskets seem common on the 3.0. I just got done doing one a few weeks ago. Tons of smoke in the exhaust, and radiator cap removed you could feel the pressure comming up when you put your hand over the open cap. Have fun and good luck
