Smile Cool Weber 38

Ok so i finally got a reman Weber 38/38 DGAS/ES 4A2.
Now on my 87 pickup the asain carb is just and i removed it.
marked all vacume lines. So heres the thing has anyone installed this carb and can tell where to put the vacume lines. This carb has nowhere near the amount of ports as old carb. And will a stock machanical fuel pump be enough. It has the larger mains installed. I cant wait to try it out. And if anything at least tell me what to do with distributor as it has 2 vacume ports. Thanks

I have the 38 on my 87 4WD and I love it. The only vacuuum line I have hooked up is from the carb to the "rear" vacuum port of the distributor. I removed ALL the smog crap and plugged remaining vacuum ports, etc. The stock fuel pump works fine but you need to install a fuel pressure regulator and set is at 3 psi. I went up one step on the main jets and the idle jets as well. I had originally installed a 32/36 but swapped over to the 38. The 38 made a HUGE difference in power over the 32/36 and it also seems to get as good or slightly better mileage than the 32/36 and my worn out Aisin.

The vacuum port closest to the valve cover (or distributor) is the correct one. Not sure what you mean by an adapter but if your talking about a regulator I use the Holley 12-804 ($28.95) from Summit Racing. It comes with a bracket and is easy to adjust but you also need a cheapo gauge. I used the Mr Gasket gauge #1561 ($13.95), also from Summit. You can buy a Mr Gasket regulator #9710 for $26.95 that doesn't require a gauge but I undertsand it's not very reliable.

Some adaptor plates have a hose barb to mount the pcv. If not, you need the adaptor that bolts to the manifold itself. Here's a view of the adaptor plate install.

Then you need an EGR plate like the one shown in the picture on eBay. The plate bolts to the manifold, the nipple screws into the plate, then you can attach your PCV hose to it.
