complicated or straightforward?

I want to swap the entire engine/transmission FROM my 94 4runner v6 w/standard transmission TO my 94 4runner v6 w/automatic transmission.

It looks like I could do it but I figured I would check here first to ask
what problems could I expect if I try?

as long as you have both trucks it should be fairly easy, cuz ur gonna need ALOT of weird misc parts off the standard 4runner, also since its fairly new you might have issues with the ecu? might have to swap that too, have fun and take lots of pics ;)

I do know you are going to have to trick it into thinking that it's in park to start it...but as yoterr stated swap the ECU as well and you might be alright. Might want to think about the harnesses as well. Having the clutch bypas is nice to have.

You should check that the crossmember for the transfer case is located at the same place on both frames before you get too carried away here. Because if it ain't then you're gonna be screwed there.:saw:

Ya see, the overall length of the transmission/transfer case combo isn't gonna be the same for a manual and an automatic. Which also means you'll need the rear driveshaft from the donor vehicle as well, cause they ain't the same length either.:(

Sorry to rain on your parade and all....

I maybe mistaken but in reading other threads about the auto/manual swap they were saying you "could" use the same D shafts. I believe the cross members are in the same spot as well.

You will have to drill the firewall and install the plumbing for the clutch and master cylinder. As well as replace the peddle bracket so you have a clutch peddle.

The main issue will be the 5spd the motor will be fine. Do some searching and you'll find it. Here is a link to get you going. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/a...ersion-141518/

you will need to swap a bunch of miscellaneous parts but it shouldn't be too bad your your need the clutch pedal brackets master cyl and lines off the donor vehicle as well as possibly the drive shafts you shouldn't have to drill the hole for the clutch rod there should be a factory hole with an cover over it as long as the donor vehicle is complete it really shouldn't be to hard

What do you think would be best: Swap eng/trans or swap bodies?
