Complete dash swap over from 89/94 to 88?

Hello New to the forum.
I have a question, perhaps its been done or in the archives but thought i would run it past here...can you change the entire dash setup from an 89 to 94 truck / 4 runner into an 86 to 88 toyota truck? if i take everything including the rear cage as well?
thanks
pat

With enough determination, anything's possible. However there are some differences between the two cabs such as the radius at the lower edge of the windshield which would have to be taken into consideration.

Why would someone take on a project like this? There seems to be so many more other things that I would try to do first!

I don't know the square edges/profile of the 84-88 make it easy to add custom gauge pods/binnacles while the swoopy curves on the 89> are a PITA to mess with.
Should you attempt this swap don't forget to remove the cab cross member [the piece of pipe with all the tabs welded to it mounted between the lower a-pillars] and adapt it as necessary this will make attaching the 89 dash a lot easier...

I put one in my 87 PU.. Lots of work. Now I am putting in electric window because the dash is deeper and I can not crank down the windows with out opening the door.

Well after thinking about it, being my toyota is all original and in really good shape,I decided to get an 84-85 with the solid axle and do a swap to that one and lift it and keep mine as unmolested as possible.
thanks for the replies.
