Clutch recommendations for towing with a 3.0L?
I've had my 90 4Runner for a whole day and a half now and the slipping clutch has to go. I have the 3VZE and don't really do much off-roading, but I did have plans to use it for towing. Hopefully towing a celica to SCCA events. I suppose I have two questions.
First, how reliably can I expect the 3.0L to perform in towing situations? What sort of payloads have you guys reliably carried? Any chance of a 3.0L towing a 2400lb car 700 miles? Second, as long as I'm replacing the clutch, what should I consider as a replacement if I plan on towing? Would a dual-friction organic/ceramic clutch be worth it? After searching, I found someone recommended a TRD clutch for towing, but I can't find any TRD clutches with Google. I'll shut up now and let you guys school me in the way of 4Runnerism. |
