clutch acted real weird now slipping?
I have a 1995 4 runner 3.0 5 speed 4x4.....
I was out driving and went to shift from 3-4 and depressed the clutch and the tranny shifted out of 3rd fine but would not engage 4th or any other gear. got the truck home b/c of the clutch cancel switch. I could put it in gear with the truck off so i new the tranny seemed fine. when i got home i pulled it into the garage and heard a pop from under the truck not sure what it was. At this point the clutch pedal was working and while the truck was running i could put it in gear. So I went to move the truck and the clutch is slipping real bad.
I need some input before i pay 200 for a new clutch and pull everything apart
It almost seems like the pressure plate let go....
per the previous owner the truck is supposed to have a centerforce dual friction clutch in it also per the previous owner should have about 45k miles on the clock
If anyone can shed some light i would greatly appreciate it i did a lot of searching but my situation seems real unique.
thanks alot

Get someone to help you. You press the clutch pedal, while someone looks at the slave (or vice versa). If your master/slave/hydro system is working properly, then it's time to spend money...

Not sure on a 3.0 standard trans., but on the 22re standard I have you can look in the bellhousing via pulling off the boot for the clutch fork. Might give a look at the throwout bearing and the retainer clips. Not sure, it's just a thought.

Sounds to me like there's a problem with your hydraulics (either master or slave cyl) not with the clutch itself. Good luck with the new clutch though.
