Greetings! First off - thanks in advance!

So...let's start this off with the comment 'I'm an idiot.' There...got that out of the way...

Question is for my '86 4Runner.

I've got a clicking sounds coming from the inside of the car somewhere in or close to the B-pillar on the driver's side. I haven't taken the trim off yet. Basically, whatever this clicking is caused by is causing my battery to drain and die. It's my own fault, though, in that I was really fried a couple of days ago while working on the truck and hooked a battery charger up to the battery backwards...so I guarantee I shorted something out. All the fuses are good, though, so I didn't blow them?

What's electrical that's located at the b-pillar?

Oh yeah - the clicking doesn't happen when the battery is charged - only when it's pretty close to dead? Kind of like something is trying to 'turn on' that doesn't have enough juice to do so??

'tis the power window/wiper relay. any thoughts on how to test it? i just pulled it out.

Is it coming from the actual B-pillar, or from the door? Is it a 4-door or 2-door? Inside the door would be the electric locking mechanism and the power windows (if such you have). Somewhere further back is the logic board for the rear (tailgate) window control, which has multiple relays on it. On the '94 that board is all the way back behind the rear wheel, but I don't know where it might be on an '86.

I have reasonable doubts that you did much damage by hooking up the battery charger backwards, unless it was either a very heavy duty charger or the battery was stone-cold dead. Under normal circumstances, even a weakened battery would have enough juice to overpower the average home charger and prevent it from actually applying a reverse voltage to the system. You'd be more likely to blow a fuse in the charger.
