It Cleaned Up Nice, Even Better Than I Expected

So I've had this truck 21 years. Finally got it all back together after lotsa body and paint work. Thank you Toyota Warehouse in California for all the NOS trim and body stuff. LOVE the Goodyear Duratracs-- super quiet for such a beefy tread. Still some minor detail stuff to do but it's now back in service after nine months.

Beautiful truck, I'll have to check out Toyota Warehouse.

I should elaborate -- it's Toyota's parts warehouse in California. I know because when I would order stuff from my local Toyota dealer he'd say the parts would be here in a week because they're coming from Toyota's big parts warehouse in California.

The truck looks very nice! It reminds me of the one my dad had when I was little.

How many miles are on it?

Yesterday, it just clicked over 232,000 km so 232,000/1.6 = exactly 145,000 miles. A/C blows cold too. Also a small bonus is that this truck came factory equipped with Goodyear AT/Ss. I still have the original spare though I bought five Duratracs on five new Toyota rims. Cheaper than restoring the originals.

Hey thanks very much. While not a full-blown restoration (more of a repaint), it was still a ton of work and money. The "TOYOTA" and little "V6" decals alone were $200 but worth every nickle. It's still a driver and will get muddy again. The new rear gears are broken in and the Truetrac works amazing. Before Christmas I ordered a flat bed to take it home from the body shop and, while driving up the bed in 2WD, the Truetrac kicked in after the right wheel started to spin. I've got a non-ADD front diff that will get new 4.88s and a Truetrac for next winter's upgrade.

I can't wait 'till I get the front all done. I'm so happy with how the True Trac works in the back, if auto makers weren't so worried about liability, auto makers should offer these from the factory. It's a great compromise with zero hassle.

Very nice! Do you have any pictures of the truck before you began the restoration?

That's what it looked like back in '11 when I took off the bed to put the Ironman springs in.

And this was a year ago while in the body shop. I fixed most of the sheet metal but I realized it was best left to the experts to finish it off. It's too clean now to take off road (yet).
