Red face Cheapo clutch set for mostly daily '88?

Okay, I've been trying to search a little. I know this forum mainly deals with off-road / crawlers so I haven't found anything in detail.

I'm currently looking for a clutch for my truck. It's a 1988, 22RE, 4WD, Manual, stock height. I use it as my daily driver right now and the mechanics of it are in good condition, 110,000 on the clock. I don't plan to lift it, but I do plan on getting either 30x9.5 or 31x10.5x15 tires for my Enkeis just for a little better stance and a slightly more elevated look. That's not to say I don't or won't go off-road, as I plan to take her on some trips within the next several months or within a year.

85% daily (city population 100K, rural route to work 15 minutes)
10% towing a small trailer (think jetski) or carrying a load in the bed
5% off-road
Might upgrade a few engine parts, maybe maf, intake, cam, header? No racing.

Do I spend money on a decent one ? Or a cheapo $79.99 they have at Oreilly/Autozone. Not really trying to be a cheapskate, but trying to see the most economical way to build the whole truck. I'd be perfectly happy spending 2-350 if the cheapo clutch kits are junk. **edit** there's also an Exedy "OEM" clutch on ebay for around $99.99**

Thanks for the help!

Luk or Aisin are the only two brands i'd recommend. I have used Luk clutches before and they stack up pretty well in longevity and feel against OEM clutches. Aisin is pretty much OEM for toyota, so i'd feel comfortable buying one. Rock Auto has The aisins for 104-108 depending where your date code falls, and 127 for a Luk Pro Performance clutch kit, or 67 dollars for just a standard kit.

Hays makes a good HD clutch. I think they are around $150.

Red face

Do yourself a favor don`t skimp on the clutch the hard part is the labor out and in.

I have both the Luk and a Aisin clutches i would go with either of those.

I never drove one from Marlin Crawler but would also trust one from them

One option is to upgrade to the turbo 22re clutch. It's larger than the naturally aspirated clutch but bolts right in. You'll need the turbo flywheel also, but you can get the clutch set from autozone for $142 and the flywheel for another $56.
