I have a 95 4Runner that is going into the shop for rebuild this week and I have found out that the Plastic Valve Covers warp over time and they are $100 each for OEM replacements. I wanted to check with you all to see if anyone knows where I can get some cast aluminum replacement, which should also help with the heat coming off the heads.

they warp? they have like 14 bolts holding them to the heads. 1) it is unlikely they warp so much that you cant tweek them back in place when you tighten the bolts down (to a whole 5lbs or something tiny like that) and the gasket doesnt take up any diffrence.

The largest distance between 2 bolts is like 3" or less. i would not expect you to have leakage any problems with them if installed correctly with new gaskets.

On the Jasper website they say this about the 3VZE:

"If the orginal engine experienced excessive oil consumption the valve
covers must be replaced. The design of the valve covers used in this
application make it impossible to clean them properly."

I'm not exactly sure what that means.

jasper is expetionally paranoid with forigien material that was left over from a blown engine contaminating the new block.

thus not being able to "clean them properly" means they want you to replace them incase there MIGHT be any tinny specs of crap that got lodged in them somehow, that you cant get out with "regular cleaning"

same reason they want you to replace a perfectly good oil cooler for like $500.
