cant figure it out
i have a 94 auto 4runner and latley i have been having problems for some reason it will not shift you floor it and it shifts from first at about 3000 maybe if im lucky but after that it wont even reach 3000 so while accelerating it feels like a CVT transmission it never shifts just accelerates till it hits 41mph then it drops to O/D and no matter what you do you can not force it to downshift only way to really get any accel is manualy hit the o/d button or pull it into second i have changed the tps changed the vafm cleaned everything had the injecters flow benched cleaned the throttle body replaced vacuum hoses the work but no matter what i try i cant get it right i have tried and tried to set the tps but no matter what i try it never hits the right spot i have even resorted to a mechanic shop and they wanted to repace injecters (reason i had the flow tested) drill out the vafm and a whole lot of other things i just dont knwo what to do anymore i mean im in the process of selling it but i dont think i can get anything out of it if it dont shift anyone have any ideas??? im just lost

i used a specialty piece of wire my bro brought home from work, he used to work at toyota. so pretty much a wire with two male connecter ends that go into that rectangle thing under the hood, on the passenger side by all the fuses

There are two dofferent ones, one set for engine codes and one for tranny codes.

It's inside the transmission pan.
That process always provides a chance to see if there is any crap in the bottom of the pan.

arent the auto tranny solenoids that wear out, causing the vehicle to shift abnormally? i recall a couple of threads about this, i just dont remember what years it pertained to

That's why I ask 'em how, specifically, he checked for tranny codes.
The two terminals to short for checking code is different for engine codes than for tranny codes.

i have changed the tranny filter twice, but i dont know how to check for tranny codes, are checked under the hood or inside the tranny pan??? and does anyone know how much the solenoids are? i mean im try to sell it right now so i was just hoping for a cheap fix, im not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars

They show as a flashing OD light.
The tranny codes are checked in a similar fashion as engine codes however a different set of connectors are jumped.
