Can an a340h tranny from a 3.0 V6 fit on a 22RE 4cyl. engine?
Hektikwon has an a340h tranny for sale that he is taking off a 3.0 V6 engine. I have a 4cyl 22re engine and so I am wondering if his a340h tranny will fit my engine? Thanks for anyone's input.

i dont think so, i think that they only fit 3vze...not totally sure though

I think that only a 4cyl tranny fits on a 4cylinder motor but im not entirely sure. It might bolt up to the motor but you may have to change certain parts ie: clutch, flywheel, etc im not really sure. I know that a 3.0l flywheel and clutch will work on a 4cyl motor but that may just be a coincidence. Go to Marlincrawler.com if anyone knows they know. Try there forums, not overly active, or try calling them.

thanks for the input on the tranny question. i'm going to save up and have the old tranny rebuilt or buy a new one. i haven't decided yet. the tranny i have has over 293,000 miles on it.

man, I dont know if you'll read this b/c it was a few days ago that you posted, but I really dont think youre gonna want the a340h in your 4 banger. I have one in my 4runner v6, and it robs a lot of the power from the engine. On a 4cyl, it'll be even worse, if it even fits. plus, the tranny and t-case are permenantly joined, so you cant take them apart, and there are no gears or anything else you can do to them to give a better crawl ratio, as far as I know. I really want to switch mine out for a 5spd which will give me more options with that stuff. Good luck tho.

a340h
6lug,
I'm new to the 4Runner experience, so when I posted my question I didn't realize that the type of transmission I had in the truck was stamped on a badge riveted to the firewall. My runner came with an a340h transmission, but I didn't know whether an a340h transmission from a six cylinder engine would fit a 22re engine block. Yeah, the a340h does suck power, but I need to slow down anyway. I havnen't gotten a speeding ticket in a while, so I am gradually driving faster...not in the 4Runner. I have a five speed '94 Altima with a 2.4 engine to drive for the winter. I am hoping to sell it sometime soon, and then get the transmission fixed. All of this was probably more than you cared to know. Good hearing from you. |
