Cadillac Horn

So today I went to a junkyard to help a friend pull some parts and I happen to come across a 1976 Cadillac El Durado. The car was a boat and since I have been needing a horn I decided to pull it off. I payed a whole 4 bucks for it!

The horn sounds amazing! Such a big upgrade from the stock!

The only downfall to this is after installing it I played around for a bit testing it and when I went to show my brother it just stopped working. I checked the fuse in the engine bay marked HAZ/HORN and all of the fuses in the fuse box and they all seem fine. The wiring looks like it didn't fall out of place so I am stumped. Any ideas?

Check the ground, when I put mine in I had to make sure the ground circuit was correct. I put two of them in, one Tone E and one Tone F. Damn, they are loud.

I just checked it and sure enough it was the ground!

Thank you for the insight!

Sometimes I miss the smallest easiest things... Now it's back to sounding amazing! :)

iamsuperbleeder 08-13-2009 04:28 PM

haha, maybe it's because it's a 33 year old horn

I've been meaning to upgrade mine... it sounds so puney... it's imbarassing...

93YotaGuy 08-13-2009 04:32 PM

Ha yeah well I haven't had one for years now cause the other one broke. When I get my camera back i'll post a video of what it sounds like.

The horn works great now. I threw in a couple of lock washers between each one and fixed the grounding issue.

before I just had them attached to the frame with a bolt and now it's fastened on their nice and tight!

I highly recommend getting this horn setup!

Although it may be 33 years old it still blows the stock horn out of the water!

Jealous much? ;)

Did you put more than one in? Some Caddies had a four horn setup, that sounds like a train. Where did you mount them?

Jay351 08-13-2009 08:04 PM

Sweet! I love my ford 2 horn setup. Best $10 I ever spent.

ShortyzKustomz 08-13-2009 08:10 PM

I like my air horn, runs off 160 psi from my air tank, makes small children cry

sundog kid 08-13-2009 10:09 PM

Coolest horn I ever swapped was from my old 83' Volvo 244 DL. If you ever have a chance to hear one, I would recommend it! lol

The setup I put on only had two horns. The way it sounds it is more than plenty! I'll post a vid here tomorrow night so you guys can check it out.

I ended up mounting them right by my license plate. There was a 12 bolt hole there and I just filled it up!

You can't even tell unless you are really looking for it.

Well I got my camera back today so here's a vid of my new horn. First in my garage and then on the street.

Enjoy!

Also, make sure the sound isn't too loud!

Sooooo much better than the stock horn. I think it is about the same tone as the two that I have, the tone E and tone F. I have mine mounted inside my ARB Bull Bar. It acts like and Echo chamber....

bigt 08-16-2009 06:26 AM

my hilux came with 2 horns under the front bumper... they are LOUD!!!
not air loud but pretty loud!

93YotaGuy 08-16-2009 03:44 PM

Yeah I think mine is a little loud... Definately was expecting it to be a little quieter but I love it!

toyotanick 08-16-2009 05:43 PM

so this is a plug and play type thing?

93YotaGuy 08-16-2009 07:09 PM

Yep plug and play. I jsut bolted it onto my truck and re-routed the horn wire and BAM!

New horn! :)

toyotanick 08-16-2009 07:39 PM

that is fricken awesome! now i have to actually find one of these cars!

93YotaGuy 08-16-2009 07:41 PM

I'll post some pics tomorrow of the horn and how it is hooked up.

Any electrical horn should work though. Just get one from a big truck or old caddy like I did and you will not be dissapointed.

I payed 4 bucks for mine and it took me about 10 min to put it in

Snow Runner 08-16-2009 07:44 PM

Nice... I swapped my xBs horn for that off of a Saturn SL1 because it didnt sound like a cat being strangled. I might go to the yard later this week and look around

toyotanick 08-16-2009 07:52 PM

would a 68 or 84 horn work?
