blown head gasket!

Damnit I have a blown head gasket!
Apparently, Toyota dealer says my vin # v6 was not on the recall list..??!! WAdaFU?!
I have a 95 4 runner with 157000 on it..was it really only certain V6's that had the plagued gaskets..??!
if so, I have to find some lubricant for the $1500 cost for the job!:barf: A garage ! A garage! My kingdom for a garage! (I live in an apartment complex... )

Any small fiddles playing out there..?:P

Nope, not all were recalled. My '90 wasn't. The previous owner had them replace at 134k though. :bigok:

y dont you do the work yourself? its really not hard at all, and it will only cost you a couple hundred for the gaskey (maybe) and a weekend to do it in! good luck with that though! :great:

:good:

It is pretty easy I think. I've done a timing belt and a knock sensor. I had to remove pretty much the same stuff you do for the head gaskets with the exception of the exhaust and heads themselves. Not to bad at all. It would probably take me about 2 days, but that's just because I'm slow.

Parts would probably run you a few hundred and a few more hundred at a machine shop. :bigok:

Well, have fun. :)

The recall (V-06) affected vehicles produced from mid model year '89 (1990's) to mid-year 1995. If yours was manufactured after May, '95 Toyota feels that the problem was resolved by then, so you're outta luck.

Yeah, my 4Runner was built in June of '89, so that's probably why it wasn't covered. :bang: Must have missed it by a few months. :cry2:

Why not rent a storage shed that will fit your runner. A months rent is usually only 20-40 dollars
