Ok, so I just got another yota pickup. It's my third 87 4x4. Single cab, long bed. The bed has most certainly seen better days. So, as of now my plans are yo flip the bed off. Buy some square steel stock and fab a basic flatbed. I have a set of 31x11.50x15 m/t's to throw on it but until I get that crappy bed off there I don't think they will fit. It has stock rear springs that sag more than a granny's rack. So I was thinking I would go the cheap route and get em re-arched, throw a add-a-leaf on and call it good. Now in the front I was thinking either BJ spacers or just getting a 3'' body lift. Any ideas or stories that might help sway me one way or the other? Thanks for the help

If the bed you fab is going to be lighter than the original I would add one or two more stock leaves rather than go with a stiff add-a-leaf. If it is going to be a BIT heavier an AAL will probably suit your needs. I would go with a BJ spacer if I was you. My 89 4Runner I had a few years back fit 33 x12.5s with the plastic diaper taken out of the front fenders and the pinchweld hammered down and a 3 inch BL on 3.75 BS wheels, I believed the previous owner also threw a little crank on the torsion bar to achieve this as well but it didn't rub. I think with a little lift in the back and BJ spacers in the front you will have more than enough room for a 31 even if it's an 11.5.

If you go the cheap route your only going to have to through more cash at it anyway.

1)63" chevy springs rear, BJ spacers front
2)All pre rear springs(they're on sale) and BJ spacers front
3) either spring and crank T-Bars

Through in some lower bump stops for more front susp. travel.

Mazda springs will give a small lift in the rear if they are stock with a short shackle as well, and you only have to weld in a new front spring hanger while leaving the rear shackle mount alone.

Well, how do you plan on using the truck?

If you are not going to be having any heavier loads in the rear, go with a long style add-a-leaf to level things out.
Removing the bed at the same time will net more lift.

I removed my spare tire when I put my add-a-leafs in and I gained almost 2.5" of lift.

I vote add-a-leaf and bj spacers. I would get a body lift too but with 31" tires it might look a little goofy

The truck is going to be a daily driver but I will spend more time in 4wd than 2. I can't help but romp on the little thing. I estimate the new bed weight to be about 75-100lbs heavier than the stock box. That's including my tool box and spare. I don't want to run anything bigger than 31'' tire because at the moment I dealing with a stock 22r motor. Kinda gutless. So until I get a weber, header, and cam I am going to stick with a 31''. The longer Chevy springs seem to be a good option. I just wonder if it's going to be a difficult task to hang em??? And what size shackles do you suggest? And what size BJ spacers do I need??? Thanks for all the help!

I agree with the person who said to get the longer leaf packs for the rear, then you could get BJ spacers up front, give the t-bars a good crank(only about an inch), and maybe do a 1 inch diff drop, to save your CV's some hassel.

Then maybe with a 1-2 inch body lift, you MIGHT be able to fit 35's.
