Bilstein shocks
How long do shocks last? I have a stock '89 4X4 truck with four bilstein shocks. About 10 years, 100,000 miles. I go out to the desert a couple times a year and bounce around chasing races. One has a slight leak. There are no problems but I was wondering if maybe I have gotten used to the diminishing ride quality.

I'd say replace.

A leaking shock is a FAILING shock. Replace in pairs at least.
|
Should I just stay with those or is there something better?
|
ask anybody around this form, those are the best shocks (besides 500$ fox coil overs lol) that you can buy for your ride, replace with the same shock and youll feel like a new truck
|
doesnt bilstein have a lifetime warrenty?
|
No. They have a limited lifetime warranty.
They don't replace worn out shocks. :wabbit2: |
I've been through a LOT of shocks on different vehicles over the past 33 years & I've not found any shock that lasts longer than the Bilstein HD for our trucks. Excellent rebound control & tough as nails.

Thanks. I will stay with those. Plus for the warranty you have to take them to where you bought them and have the receipt. No receipt and Downey Off-Road went out of business.
