Best way to get a cam gear bolt torqued
Hello... I have a 1986 Pickup 22RE AT. Anybody have a trick to get the cam gear bolt torqued to 58lbs without a pulley holder? Is it bad for the engine to rotate at this point in a timing chain replacement? |
The 3VZE cams have a 27mm flat in the middle of the cam. A 1 1/16" wrench will fit, but it's not hard to find a 27mm. Avoid an adjustable wrench; the don't want any part of the wrench to hit the aluminum head.

I had success using a large c-clamp on the cam gear teeth while torque wrenching to a value close to that number.
