anyone really notice a power/torque gain with an aftermarket header for the 22re motor? which brand did you get and how hard of an install was it? thanks..

I wonder the same thing since the exhaust manifold is designed a lot like a header, just with shorter pipes soming off. It isnt like a chevy straight manifold that has one exit at one end of the engine.

i put some pace setter headers on my 22RE and it made me get a little more ponies under the hood. and i have 34 ltb swampers with 4:88 and i did feel a difference in power. and these headers only cost me about 2oo and they were easy to install and it took more time fab up the cat and the cheery bomb i put on the truck.

The header I want is the LC Engineering header. I'm kinda hesitant to buy one because I need more low end torque rather than top end HP. I've heard alot of negative things about pacesetter products, I think its a "you get what you pay for" kind of thing. Installing headers on a 22r or re would take about as long as it takes to take off the bolts and put them back in, that and putting the O2 sensor in.

I put Doug Thorley headers on my 22RE and noticed a decent power gain. I no longer had to downshift as much. It was an easy install. They have been on there at least six years now.

I really like my LCE header. Yes I believe I gained some hp and torque, although I didnt measure it on a dyno or anything. The wife noticed so I guess it was a good move.
Had a fitment issue installing tho. The connecting pipe was wrong so i had to send it back and wait. other than that, it was a simple install.

Ive heard Thorley gives more low end and LCE gives more high. I'm a daily highway driver and the LCE works great for me. was worth every penny.

I installed a LCE header, cat, exhaust on a 22RE. It wasn't to hard and I "felt" a improvement in power. In my case, everything fit very well and quality was high. Never had a problem once installed.

Just got done putting some headers on a V6. Now that was not very much fun at all. No room to work. But I did get some gains on that motor as well.

Both motors benefit from headers in different ways. Research the company you are looking to buy from and at what RPM range they are trying to improve performance or torque.

Might find some different results with exhaust diameters, mufflers, etc.

I had a Pacesetter on my 22R and had exhaust leaks like crazy. I had them JetHot coated - well worth the $$$. Keeps your underhood temp MUCH lower, and they always look good.

A friend had a Thorley on his 22R. Much better. No exhaust leaks and much better tuned.

Both provided significant performance improvement IMHO.

i put a lce header on wich is awesome its stainless steel and ceramic coated ... it pulls nice now i also have a k&n fipk a custom intake tube...custom 2-1/4'' cat back exhaust into a flowmaster delta 40 it sounds awesome...and the header was very easy to put in they sent me all the right parts... great company

i'm running a NWOR header i got off ebay for cheap. do your homework and keep an eye out and you can save some serious $$.

if you want to increase the torque, it's also necessary to consider increasing the incoming--look at the airbox mod.

but, if you want the max results regardless of header brand, do the cat back in 2.25". then you'll feel it!
