Anyone had this problem before? CV Shaft

Hi everybody,

I have a 1990 4runner with a V6, 4wd, 5spd manual, and autolocking hubs. A few months ago, the outer CV boot on the left side ripped open and sprayed the wheel well with grease. about 2 months after that, I put it in 4wd and when i turn right, it makes the click click click noise I thought to be associated with the CV joint gone bad. The noise only occurs in 4wd with a right hand turn.

I've replaced the CV shaft with a remanned one from carquest. Same problem as the old CV shaft! It makes the SAME noise! Anyways I got in there again and the CV shaft has a little bit of play in it. Not a ton but its noticeable.

Anyways, to make it worse, I was just driving home tonight, and the left front area made a brand new noise, just going down the road! It sounded like something was rubbing on the actual tire tread. I haven't had a chance to look at that part yet, being as its dark out.

Has anyone gone through this problem or heard of it before? I'd like to get this problem licked so I can hit the mud in peace!
