Any experience with aftermarket chrome bumpers?

So I had a run in with deer the day before thanksgiving, and luckily the truck took it pretty well with damage only being done to the bumper, the filler panel, and also the bumper cap on the left side. i have been able to source all the parts, but have searched everywhere for someone to straighten my stock bumper out, and nobody is willing to take on the job. Toyota no longer makes the bumper, and i doubt that I am going to find any in any local junkyards, so can anyone speak of the aftermarket bumper that seems to be sold everywhere? The part number for it is TO1002121, and it seems to be widely available...

I don’t have experience with aftermarket chrome, but aren’t there a couple of large Toyota yards in your area? YotaYard and Yota Jim’s? Have a look on car-part.com too.

They are always an option! I have used the Your Yard before and had a good dealings with them as well.

I have no direct experience, but from what others on here have posted, the aftermarket bumpers look nice looking but are made out of thinner gauge steel so they are a little flimsier then the OEM bumper.

The chrome plating is not as nice as the OEM bumper. This is something to consider if you live in an area where road salt is used.

I am not sure on how well they fit.

I have the aftermarket bumper on my 4Runner.
Yes, flimsier and for some reason it seems the square top bumper bolt holes are smaller than the factory bumper bolt.
Looks OK...make it work.
My advice on the cheap bumper ends, don't use the locking nuts that come with them or you will never be able to disassemble them because the bolt starts spinning in the plastic.
if you want the plugs to cover the side hole, they are 1" and you can get them from a good hardware store.

My dad has some of those front and back. Can't polish off the generous, turning black already, non surface rust everywhere after two winters.

But they where cheap. He is like that... ;) <3

I made a few phone calls with mediocre results, and decided to say "to hell with it" and ordered an ARB bull bar. I live in a VERY rural area with no street lights and TONS of deer, and After thinking how much worse the truck could have been damaged, I figured i would give it a better chance for if/when the next one happens.

Good choice, aftermarket bumpers are garbage and finding a nice one is nearly impossible at this point, I have been to Jim’s yard intermittently for years and never found a good one. The ARB is killer:) Do post pics when you get it installed!!!!
