Alternator rebuild or buy from Autozone

Im about to go to Autozone and have them test my alternator. My battery is draining the next day as my truck sits in the driveway. All lights are off in the truck

My truck has 110K miles and I just rebuilt the starter, however, one wire connector broke off at the starter. I thought I had it securely wired back. Maybe it came loose or it is coincidental that my alternator is going bad.

Anyway, I rebuilt my starter because it was strongly suggested not to buy a rebuilt one from Autozone. Should I trade in my alternator to Autozone or is this something I should rebuild like my starter?

Many thanks.

yeah man, I rebuilt mine not too long ago. Put a 90 amp stator kit in it while in there. Better than new. Straightforward delicate work.

Okay, can anyone give advise how to rebuild with 90 amp stator kit? I have never rebuilt an alternator before. I would love to learn. I just learned to rebuild my own starter from this site.

Anyone have a website where I can purchase the parts to rebuild the alternator? Im going to start with eBay, but I would rather purchase from members that support this website like 4Crawler. He sold me the starter parts and delivered quickly.

Advise on how to rebuild? Teach me? Thank you in advanced.

This is the write up I used and it went on without a hitch.

Only thing is Mobi-Arc doesn't deal with that kit anymore directly and now has someone else that sells it. I cannot remember who or the number but if you call Mobi about a 22re stator kit they will give you another number and thats where I got my stuff from. I think around $140ish? Lemme know if ya got any specifics.

You might ask iamsuperbleeder how he likes the 130 amp direct bolt-in replacement he got from a vendor on ebay ($110 shipped):

thanks guys...I will try to rebuild. I dont think I need the extra amps, but it will be a fun project.

Well make sure you do a tad of pricing research beforehand. It usually isn't too far off to go ahead and upgrade VS a stock rebuild. Parts cost $$$ regardless so if the cost isn't too far off, it's the same process to rebuild one with new/aftermarket parts and go ahead and have a higher ceiling. Your call homes.
