Absolutely un-funny...Water pump leaking again!!
This is unreal. After putting a 2nd water pump on, it is leaking again. I have put water pumps on before, on other vehicles, and never had a problem. This most recent install, I used Ultra Grey Permatex. I let it set up overnight, so it could cure properly. Can anyone give me insight on wether or not I am putting the bolts in the correct position? There are 5 bolts of one variety, and 2 with washers, correct? I believe I am putting them back in the correct places. Would the 91 be any different from the 93 shown in the FSM?

Torque is 14 or 15 ft. lbs. Do you have to do anything special to the studs that hold the water inlet on? I am at a loss. I guess I'll break it down, take off the main timing cover, re-install the radiator, and run it so I can get my eyes exactly on what is happening. Any other way to go about this?

I had the same problem until I put a gasket on it. I know it says you don't need it, but as soon as I put one on, no more leak. I used the gasket (it's just a paper one) and ultra copper sealant on both sides of the gasket. Haven't had a single problem since.

You didnt happen to use those "stop-leak" pellets did you? I used to use them for radiator leaks and they worked too good. They plug up the pinhole in my radiator--also plugged up water pump. I guess I learned my lesson trying to do things the easy, cheap way. never again.
