95 runner manual swap help!

I hope someone can help me out! I just switched to a manual tranny and drove around alittle but i just cant find how to hook up the reverse light and the 4wd dash indicator. I tried searching but no luck. I really want to wrap this thing up so i can get this thing registered and put to use......been sitting for 2yrs. I have been jumping wires and no luck.

sorry, this is a 3vz eng/tranny.

oh, just a few details......works fine with the both auto and manual ecu, rear motor plate is the same or works fine, dont know about the crossmember but the tranny mount is definitely different so i chopped and welded etc to mate to auto crossmember, auto driveshaft bolts up but is almost maxed out(may slip out?). I live on a long dirt road so i couldnt tell of any vibes....went up to 40mph. The pedal feel sucks but still working on it. hope someone chimes in for the wiring.

still trying to figure it out w no luck

afaik you need a driveshaft out of a stick to complete the swap properly. As far as a reverse light, you could go the quick and dirty way by just wiring in a toggle for now. not sure about the 4x4 indicator

lukeland68w 10-11-2009 04:06 PM

yeah, the toggle switch i can do but im tryign not to. Im actually more concerned about the 4wd, i think i have the ADD and i dont know what actuates it. im guessing that it wont go on unless whatever activates the dash light is on. still hoping for someone to chime in with pics or somethin. I looked at some schematics online but i really dont know anything about schematics or electronics/wiring.

Did the swap myself in my 91 4runner. Does your's have a white 9 pin connector with the neutral start switch wires in it? If so look at this post. If not, sorry different style, different year. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ng-add-190385/ I wrote a little further down in the thread what wires go to where including 4wd indicator and back up lights.

Oh and that little box infront of the shifter that says must stay level has to do with the abs. Were u messing around with that before ur ABS light come on?

I go check mine tomorrow. I have it working... To get the 4WD working, you need alot of splicing to do from your ECU to the I4 connector, and to ur TC. Some member on here know everything about it. I don't know if he is still surfing on here... I haven't got mine done yet and if I was you I will go this route by installing those manual hub instead. It will get it working w/o that 4 WD light on. I also have that drive shaft sticking out but a guy told me if you don't see those gear out much you are fine. My cross member fit but the tranny mount need to be change. Maybe when I'm not that lazy I will try to get that 4 WD light to work with the auto hub ADD on the 5 speed... So I wil try... :bowdown2: :safari:

thanks for chiming in. im gonna check out those links but for the 4wd indicator and add i just locked the ADD to the 4wd position and gonna install manual hubs(my wife has been btchn to throw those out of the yard, thank god i kept em). I dont have any box in frotn of the shifters but my abs light was on because i burned a fuse(HOW?) but i replaced and its good.

The wire coming from pin 4 should be red with a white stripe and from pin 9 should be black with an orange stripe. [Copy]
