Thumbs down 95 4Runner 3.0 V6 Fuel Pump

Hey, this is my first time posting on here or any forum so bare with me. My 4runner is having a no start problem. It cranks over fine though. When I first started trying to diagnose the issue i noticed that the CEL would not come on when key was in the on position. There was no spark and no fuel. I got the fuel pump working by jumping it with the diagnostic ports. After many times of trying to start it (due to frustration or new ideas) it still would not start. Checked fuses and everything I could think of. I ended up getting a ecu for it and the CEL came back on! I also now have spark, but still no start. I could not hear the fuel pump after replacing the ecu. So I tried jumping it again and the fuel pump now does not kick on... Any suggestions guys?

i'd start by tracing down voltage to the wiring from the battery, to the main fuse/efi relay panel, to the ecu and fuel pump relay (circuit open relay), and on to the pump itself. the plug for the pump is tucked up between the tank and frame rail. kind of pain to get to, but sounds like you might have some intermittently functioning wiring/connections

Thanks! I will check it out tomorrow after work.Is it worth cutting a hole/hatch to get to it if need be? I have seen a multitude of videos of people who did that. Just a thought?

i did it after having to change the pump out due to constant failing. a rash of poor quality pumps at o'reilly! fortunately, they changed brands and the third one was a charm

Check for 12v to ground (not to FP) from B+ with key on. With key off, check for low resistance (<10 ohms) from FP to ground.

Ok so today was the first day actually able to do anything with the vehicle due to storms around here and it being in the middle of a parking lot. All the connections checked out and i cut the access hatch. Is there anyway to check the FP itself with a Multimeter? Would that be the low resistance from FP to ground? Kinda new to multimeters but I am getting the hang of it pretty fast.

Hey thanks! I have 12v from B+ but not reading anything on the resistance from FP. What does this mean exactly?

Arrgh! Your multimeter CANNOT give you 'nothing.' You can have zero ohms or infinite ohms or anything in between, but you can't have no reading.

If the resistance from FP to ground is infinite, you have an 'open' circuit. The pump could be open (broken), or a broken wire somewhere.

Sorry for the non clarity. By nothing i did mean infinite. And its on a new pump so I would assume wire. Also i checked for voltage to the pumps pigtails and came back with the no voltage. Which would reinforce the wire scenario correct?

Help Please!

Ok so i havent messed with the 4runner much in a while due to not having the time and money with planning a wedding. But I now have the fuel pump working fine. Changed it out and works great. But the no start is still the issue. I have fire to the spark plugs and am getting fuel. My timing belt is still intact double checked that. I have even sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body to see if that helped to no avail. Any suggestions? No code is stored on cel.
