'94 SR5 V6 Auto 4runner Q's

Hey guys I'm new to the forums and had some questions for you....
I have my runner torn apart right now, engine wise, and am working on a rebuild, as I blew a cylinder.
I haven't owned it long, (a year now, but its been in the garage for a good part of that.) I want to lift it, and am wondering what my best plan of action would be? I've done a lot of reading up on it and I know I will have problems with the transfer case if I try a body lift past two inches. Also, does anyone have a good guesstimate on what it would cost me to get my trans regeared? I think I should move up to 4.88 as I plan to run 33x10.5. What brands would you recommend, and what sizes, and what all would need to be done?
Any help at all is greatly appreciated... I can/will post pics of it if you guys want a peak.. I'm getting a nice paint job done at just material cost, metallic flake black done in a few weeks . Let me know and thanks in the mean time

Firstly, with an automatic you'll want to gear even lower than 4.88's for the 33" tires. Probably 5.29's or 5.71's. Secondly, you really don't NEED to lift the vehicle for said size tire...especially that much. If any, 1in would be adequate and you wouldn't have any worries on the shifter issues. On parts brands, if you did search I'd suspect brands used and mentioned there within would be what to go with. It's a subject that's been disussed quite a bit, so those used would be what's being commonly used and suggested. Hehe...did that make sense?
And what do you want to regear? The transmission or the transfer case?

Ok, I wasn't sure how well it would fit with stock lift or even just an inch, and what would I be wanting to look into? A suspension lift or would a simply body lift do? And I was assuming just the transmission

Ok so it sounds like I'll need to move up to 5.29's... Also what is the best way you guys have found to fix the sag? I'm thinking I'm going to get either a 1 or 2 inch body lift, and I was wondering if any of you have heard of Lift lips before? http://www.liftlips.com/ Seems like a good idea if you have that gap... Don't know much about them though
Ok so after doing some searching I've came up with two options for a body lift : WabFab, because they offer a 1 inch for my model 4runner, and 4crawler, but the smallest they offer for a 94 auto 4runner is 2 inches... what do you guys think?

i think body lifts are TRASH! go with lift coils in the rear and ball joint spacers up front. that will get you riding right and you will like the outcome
www.trdparts4u.com checks out lift kits theres alot of good ones. body lifts are excuses...horrible ones, and definately go with 5.29s there GREAT with 33s

Ok thanks bent, those look great But few questions about that.. Does being an automatic trans affect a suspension lift? I dont know if it will create a problem with driveline angle or anything... I'm fairly new to lifting yotas as in first project....

no not at all. unless you do something crazy like a custom 20 inch lift you will be fine. i think that most of those kits come with bracketry to drop stuff down, but you wouldnt even need that. also just alittle reason behind my hating on body lifts is that a body lift really doesnt improve on anything other than clearence for tires, where a suspension lift gives you alot more suspension flex and gives you the clearence for tires

POSTED PICS -- Obviously I have some body work to do, but that should give you guys a general idea of where I'm at. I'm running 31x10.5 Mud King XT's with about 90-80% tread left. I havent really driven this truck much, as I got it cheap because of the engine problems.

well...i mean your pic says it all...hahaha. as far as your pics go mattics, thats how alot of the trucks around here start out. you lokk like you got a pretty good platform to start with. i like having to start from the ground up cause you can really get to know your truck well..ya know?

I think if you're looking for cost effectiveness, get the longer coils for the back(coil spacers will still not hold a load with out sagging) I run the downey coils in the back of mine, and I couldn't be happier. Crank the torsion bars up front a little (one inch is pretty much all you want to do) maybe get a 1 or 2 inch body lift(I'd just go with the 1 inch myself) Get some manual locking hubs, too just to be sure your CV's will last(esp with torsion bars cranked, and 33's) and you should be set. Unless you really want more lift, then get the ball joint spacers(and then get an allignment).
