94' put in new long block, now it won't start

i just spent $1800 on a brand new long block, then put in two days getting eveything swapped out and ready to run. i think i'm done go to start it and nothing. it turns over just like it should. i checked the spark, it looked good, i pulled a couple spark plugs out to check and see if i was getting fuel. they were bone dry, so a cranked it over and sprayed fuel in the intake, it started up and ran for a couple seconds then died. i cracked open the fuel line going to the cold start injector and got sprayed by fuel. so it seem like my fuel pressure is good.
My question, is there a sensor the could have taken a dump that would not allow the injectors to not work? or any other ideas that could possibly causing it not to start. any ideas would be awesome! thanks guys

You can check the fuel pump by shorting fp and b+ in the diag port. Is the afm connected? it triggers the fuel pump relay. Also is the distributor installed correctly? rotor pointing to #1 while crank is at tdc and both valves are loose on #1? if it is out of time it will turnover but have problems actually starting. Even though it is not running you can check for engine codes and that would tell you what if any sensors are not responding to the inital power up.

2 other big things are check all of your grounds, especially the injector ground and check all your fuses both in the engine compartment and the cab.

One ground I think would be easy to miss would be the one on the rear of the head that attaches to the firewall. Also double check all the fuses. Maybe something shorted out diring the install.

I went through almost this same problem when intalling a new 3vze in my friends 4Runner. First it was the timing and then it wouldn't start because the engine was flooded from trying to start it before. We had to let it dry with the plugs out. Also wiped down the plugs and let them dry for a while. You said yours were bone dry though. Any check engine lights on?

as long as i have owned the truck the check engine light has been on. I did check the fuses. I did miss the ground going to the head. as soon as i make it back home i will go through everything you guys have said.
and for the record is that the injector ground? I'm coming from an Old VW backround and trying learn all this EFI junk and "modern" vehicle mechanics.

the part that is really frustrating me is that this is the second engine swap i've done in this pickup and everything went good the first time! just had to let that out.

can't wait to get to working on my little black yoter! thanks
