94 PU 3.0L- sourcing a rebuilt, pull/install questions, etc...
I have a 94 pickup with a 3.0L v6 that needs to be replaced. Before everyone starts yelling at me, I have spent a good deal of time searching these forums, as well as the internet in general for answers to my questions. Because I'm not a mechanic I think the problem that I'm running it to is that I do not know some of the correct terminology making it hard to query properly. Anyway:
1) I understand that are difference between the 89-95 3vz's in regards to the location of mounting holes for the externals, but that there is some commonality. Any links to some kind of data sheet or whatever that clearly lists this all out would be awesome. My fear is ordering a rebuilt and my garage having to machine a bunch of holes in it (more $$$).
2) Anyone know a good source for ordering rebuilts that understand the aforementioned year-to-year differences between the 89-95's, and specific head gasket issues that arises when you mount an aluminum head to a steel block?
3) anyone know the approximate labor hours for pulling an old 3vze and installing a rebuilt one with the old externals? I know most garages have a book that tells the time most repairs should take.
FYI, I am not even attempting to swap the engine myself due to lack of tools, suitable location, knowledge, and time. As such, he 3.4 swap is out of the question due to financial constraints (don't even suggest it, please).
