94 P/U 22re stumbling accel, poor fuel mileage
hey everybody. ive got a 94 P/U with a 22re, and ive somewhat recently aquired the problem of slow accelration, stumbling, and poor mileage. i checked my egr, and the small metal hose that connects to the vacume modulator (which has a small mount screw, so its romovable) is cloged with carbon, but is seized on, carbon filter on the modulator unit is clean. could that cause this problem, I.E., EGR valve stuck open or closed? and is there somewhere i can get the tube without having to buy a new egr?

You should be able to clear out the built up carbon with a coat hanger (or some similar device). Since it is the smallest orifice, it tends to clog first. I'd recommend removing the EGR valve when you do it, then you can check for carbon in the actual valve too.
I have a feeling you have another issue though. It's sounding more like a throttle position sensor than EGR stuff. Search for TPS set-up and there is a really good guide on how to test and set it up properly.
Keep us posted.

tried to clear the carbon without removing the egr first, but its harder than a rock. but i DID disconnect the TPS to put it in open loop, and the problem went away. however, the tps is about 2 months old. and in perfect condition and calibration. what other sensors are ignored in open loop? any more ideas? thanks everyone
