94 3vze pickup cooling too much after new head gaskets???

I have a 3vze that I recently did head gaskets on and I put in the orange flamethrower injectors. It is cooling too well while idling now. I tried to get the engine warmed up to check my timing and it wouldnt warmup til I put some cardboard in front of the radiator.

I think its cooling too well. Driving down the road once it was warm I noticed it was down by cold on the gauge again. It wasnt warm.

I thought about installing an electric fan but im skeptical since I could forget to turn it on or off or burn up my alternator. Im planning a 3.4 swap so I dont wanna put a bigger alternator on and spend the money.

Any ideas on how I could cool it less on idle? And keep it cool enough at interstate speed?

Its 25 degrees here in ohio for a while so no warmup and timing is at 12 and idle is set at 900 or so (I know a little high).

it shouldn't run cooler than it is designed no matter how well your cooling system works. Check your thermostat. Perhaps timing.

timing has nothing to do with it, my timing is set to 17 degrees. and my idle is 550 rpm. im guessing its your thermostat

Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open.

no check engine codes and I didn't take the thermostat out. so id say either ones not there or its stuck open. that would also explain why my engine temp fluctuates with speed and rpm. When im doing 35mph its like at 1/4th of the gauge and at 70mph its at about half the gauge when its hot outside its a little over half the gauge. I thought the thermostat was maybe missing but haven't had time to check it yet.

ill get a 180 degree F one and try it out.
