93 pickup not shifting through 3-4th correctly

just bought a higher mileage 93 pickup 4x4 3.0 v6. transmission a340-h.
It is missing shift points for 3rd and 4th gear when trying to reach highway speeds. no clunking or grinding just riding at 4500 rpms when it should have shifted around 40mph and up. I checked tranny fluid and tested for codes using the paper clip method. It is not throwing any codes. I have read that the shift solenoids have these symptoms but usually throw code 62. No idea where to start any help??

The answers to all questions are found in The Good Book:

There are several codes (for different solenoids and the like), but you have checked and found none (do read the manual and verify you are doing it correctly; you need to watch the O/D light, not the CEL).

Lockup and O/D are both deferred when the engine is cold. You may need to check the ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor. The actual shift points are determined (in part) by the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). You, my friend, are in luck: with the A340H you can verify the operation of the TPS directly through the transmission using the Tt pin of the diagnostic connector (see Electronic Control System in the manual).
