Why couldn't you download?
Just go to this webpage:
http://drywindhome.net/Hilux/
then right-click on the link as shown and save the PDF to your computer.
Works best with the free Acrobat Reader

This link should be working

Howdy,
Checked my server and it is up. Here's the link to the searchable single-file PDF download http://drywindhome.net/Hilux/

Works best in the latest Adobe Reader on Windows or Mac. Mobile PDF readers work OK, but search is limited.

FYI don't just view in your web browser. The value of this is in your shop on a secondhand garage PC or netbook. No internet needed to use.

Because I've never used the FSM before, I want to make sure I'm reading something right. In the maintenance charts, it references 'first period' and 'second period' (things like the drive belts and idle speed). Does this apply to time/distance since the vehicle was new, or since the part was new? I think it means since the vehicle was new (idle speed is an 'inspect and adjust' item).

It think this is time or mileage based to reflect differing needs as the vehicle ages. Always go with whatever value you reach first: time or mileage.
Yes, time would be since last maintenance (assuming that you've kept to the schedule)

In both schedules, some of the items (drive belts, engine coolant, and idle speed; nothing else) list 'first period'; drive belts and idle speed also list 'second period'.

This is for drive belts:
I: First period. 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 36 months, second peri–
od, 60,000 miles (96,000 km) or 72 months
!: After that, every 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or 12 months
