91 4runner shocks replacement
Today, I am supposed to go and get/replace my runners' shocks. My dad is really bent on getting Monroe's. Is there a specific size shock that I need or is it like "1 size fits all". Thanks, Eric

i had monroes....they suck and really dont last very long... go with somethign aftermarket more like...kyb, rancho, and old man emu would be the best bet they kick ass...and everyone on here likes them.
|
I'd go aftermarket as well. They are definately more spendy but it'll be worth it later on for sure. I have Bilsteins and love them.
|
Thanks for the input. ;-)

If you are going to spend any time and money at all, you might as well do it right. Another vote for Bilsteins.
|
If you find the Bilstiens to be too much cost wise, then I recommend Skyjacker Nitros.

Ended up getting Rancho RS5000's. :rockin: Glad I didn't get Monroe's lol. I'll post some pictures (before/process/after) if it's worth anything to anyone.

Put my new Rancho shocks on.. took me about 2 hours... Took it for a spin and about 80% of my rattling was gone... I imagine it will all be gone when i replace the rear coils. Thanks everyone for the advice

Rancho 5000's are really harsh riding shocks, I sure noticed an improvement when I removed mine. Actually monroe's are a very good shock (sensatrac, reflex), but this is all relative to how much offroading you do with your truck. If your truck is a daily driver and pretty much stock, then the monroes give my vote for a cheap replacement. I would put bilsteins on a fairly new truck, but I would not be able to justify the expense on an older truck.

Rancho 5000s here too. It rides like a truck. You can tell they are made for offroading and do just fine there but the ride may not be what everyone is looking for. I like em. :)
|
I would agree... It rides more like a truck now, and I like trucks.. It's not like I can change my mind now after investing 200 bucks into em lol... Installed 'em, and liking 'em.
