91’ 3.0 broke down!😢

Figured I’d get on here to ask about my 4Runner! I am not a huge fan of the 3.0L motor, I recently rolled my 96’ Tacoma with the 3.4L that I had done a bunch of work to and most people thought it was turbo charged cause it was just angry and actually broke the whole block in half! But before I knew so cause it was very well hidden till dismantling I got a 91’ runner to swap the 3.4 from the truck into the runner! Anyways the runner runs fine and I know it say a while and the previous had to put a new fuel tank and pump in and would still go thru filters like crazy ( every 10000 miles)! Well I was driving the other day and it started to loss power completely then it would come alive and wipe your head back and you could hear the motor actually staling then starting just thru the exhaust! Super crazy it was exactly like a EGR going bad on a diesel! Power then stahl power then stahl then it died and never started again! I figured fuel filter so I started to remove and could not get to front convection to put some mustard on breaking it loose without taking the tranny crossmember our and I’m just having a horrible time with it and just reading a few post I’m starting to wonder if it is even the filter? Maybe something different? I don’t know but I am all ears! I’m pretty handy soo do most my own work and usually pretty successfully but I am hating this fuel filter and would be very disappointed if it wasn’t the problem! Oh by the way it’s got bout 149k on it and filter was changed 142k! Please help cause I’m in Idaho and it is snowing a ton and I’m without my snowstomper!!

At the top of this forum there is a sticky with the factory service manual in it. Use it to jumper the fuel pump on with the engine off. Check for leaks. Here is a tool to help with this.

Fuel pressure tool

Mine is a 22re ... i went thru about 4 fuel filters and 2 fuel pumps... the second fuel pressure regulator fixed my problem...
till it rained or was foggy or i went to the car wash
... so after finding that my distributor was missing the o ring that keeps it water proof... ordering one and installing it... those two issues are fixed
now on to the blown head gasket issue...argh!
