91 22re in 88 22re truck?

Hi there, my motor blew up. Can I put a 1991 22re into my 1988 EFI 22re truck?

Red face

Yes but use the engine Harness and injectors and ECU from the 88 engine

If you use the newer engine harness and sensors ECU your going to have quite a bit more wiring merging the two wiring harnesses

Block and heads are all the same. If it is a 2 wheel drive, you will need to swap oil pan and pickup tube. Use all the 88 motor components on your 91 block.
