90 vs 94 alt on 3.0

I have a 90 3.0 and I bought a bunch of used parts for real cheap and they came from a 94 3.0

my alt went bad, I have the one from the 94 but it has a diffrent plug, but I have the wiring harness so i could spilce it in

is this ok to do and has any one done this?

any write ups?

I dont want to have to buy a new one when I have a good used one laying around

What went bad with original alt? If it's just the brushes (typical), replace them.

Alternatively, swap the rectifiers (with plugs) between alts. It's an easy task.

what are the rectifers?
is that just the pug in the back of the alt?

I was thinking of just swapping the plug and butt conect together.
I think this will work out just fine, but I want someone elses opion

i think what he is saying is, swap out your plug for the other. they come apart! and you can put your original wires in the new plug!

NO SPLICE AND DICE needed.
I did the exact same thing, had my alt go out on my 90 v6, went to a slavage yard and got one off a 94. You just take apart the plug. Take the orginal one off of your old alt and put it on the new. Works perfect.

Oops! I said "rectifier", but I meant "voltage regulator"! The plug is attached to the regulator.

Is the output of the 3.4 alternator any better than the 3.0's?
