89 Yota 4x4 want start or run on its own! Please help!
Hey guys i have a 89 Toyota pickup 4x4 2.4. I just got it and had to pull and replace all the timing setup bc it was cracked and need replacing. Well, since thin i could not get it to start. I had fire to the fuel pump but now i dont at any key position. I jumped a hot wire to it and truck still want fire up. But i can spray starting fluid into the air intake box and she will start up for a few seconds. I cant figure out where the fuel pump relay is. Could u please help? I know that there has got to be something else wrong since i am not getting fuel from the injectors either. Could this be the EFI relay on passenger side under hood?
thanks guys. Sorry for the being my first post.

it sounds like the air metering box is not plugged in, also is the tube from the air box to the throttle body hooked up? if not it wont turn on the fuel pump.

ok here is an update. I have constant battery power to every relay and fuses in the junction box under hood. But when u turn key to run position i have no switch power source. this is my problem. Where would be the best place to start looking for a problem here. This is most likely why my fuel pump is not turning on either. But the truck turns over when trying to crank it. I had power in the switched position two days ago when i checked it. I dont think the key switch is the problem.

I finally tracked down the COR relay. Now, if i jump a wire across the Fp and B+ terminals i still have no fire at the fuel pump. Does this mean the COR relay is bad. Now, i now the AFM is good bc i swapped it into another truck and it ran fine. Now last thing is getting a switched power to my EFI relay. I have power at the 7.5 ign fuse. Where else does this wire run before it gets to the Junction box under the hood?

well i currently have the bed off the truck. I know what the problem is after doing some searching. I have no switched power to my EFI relay. I will jump this tomorrow and see what happins. I found out power goes through this thin the COR thin to the fuel pump. I will also open the flap in the AFM and check voltage all the way to pump. Will report back tomorrow.

ok back with an update on everything. Found out my 7.5 ign fuse was blowed now i have power to my fuel pump. Got it running with starting fluid thin it would kinda idle and run but has no power at all. I noticed that my cold start injector switch is broken near the temp sensor. But my cold start injector still works and is spraying fuel. But i had it running thin took the injector pigtail loose after a few mins and engine shut off. I think my injectors are not spraying. Is there something to look for that controls them? or could the broke CSI switch have something to do with this? PLease help. Thanks guys.

No input on this?
I have two hots on the injector pigtails. Is this correct until the ecm grounds one side? Could the broken sensor keep the truck from starting. It was started and i crept around yard but it had no power. But as soon as i pulled the cold start injector pigtail it shut off. Makes me think injector problem. What about coil igniter? doesnt it control the injectors? had no power going or coming from it.

The ECU controls the injectors by switching grounds.
Check the ground cable at the back of the cylinder head to firewall... this one will drive you nuts.
Check the negative cable at the engine block and the chassis.
Check to see if you ECU is grounded, use a meter and make sure its zero.
IF the CSI works you do not need starter fluid, sounds like timing issues.

You do have a problem with compression. Nothing to lose at this point, try retighting your head bolts and see if any of the numbers change, maybe just a head gasket.
Here is what I went thru on my injector issue on post #282, Link https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...6/index12.html
